Hello, My Dear Family and Friends,

It has probably been a while since many of you have heard from me. As you know, our precious son, Mac, died on January 15, 2023, from Stage 4 colon cancer. Since then, my family and I have been heartbroken and I, personally, have been devastated. As I try to move forward, I’m striving to find the courage and motivation to continue to help others who are suffering. As most of you know, this is my way, in general. In this effort, I’ve been donating my time and nonprofit expertise to James Kay, executive director for the Denver Homeless VOICE. Mac and James were buddies and Mac helped James out whenever he could. Now it’s my turn.

The Denver VOICE is an organization dedicated to empowering individuals facing homelessness or income instability across the Denver Front Range, providing employment opportunities allowing those they serve to pay for food and other basic needs, fostering community engagement, and advocating for systemic change. The stories of resilience, courage, and transformation that I've witnessed have forever altered my perspective on life and the power that love and support wield in helping ameliorate suffering.

As we approach the holidays and the birth of our Savior, I am filled with an overwhelming sense of hope that things will get better. For the last year, James has poured his heart and soul into the impactful and effective work of Denver VOICE. For the past couple of months, I have been helping him with grants, events support, and strategy suggestions. Now it’s time to do more.

In the lovely state where Denver VOICE serves, Colorado Gives Day culminates on Tuesday, December 5, 2023. This months-long statewide (now nationwide) campaign is a vital opportunity for communities everywhere to rally together and make a collective impact on homelessness and poverty in Colorado. Your donation, whether large or small, will have a direct and tangible effect on the well-being and dignity of our brothers and sisters who are facing unspeakable and, many times, almost unbearable, circumstances.

I invite you, my family and friends, to join me on Colorado Gives Day, to transform lives, ignite hope, and be a force for change in the lives of those who live in Colorado. Although Colorado is an amazingly beautiful state, it can be a harsh place to live in the bitter winter months. Your contribution is not just a gift; it's a lifeline for many.

I ask you to please consider making a donation, sharing Denver VOICE’s message with your network, or volunteering your time, from near or far, to create lasting positive change. Let's stand together, as a community fighting against human suffering, to empower those who need it most.

With deepest gratitude to all who have supported me and my family and who will go on to support the cause that Mac cared about so deeply.

Blessings tenfold to you all.

Love,

-denise
