"The lessons are aligned with standards and are able to meet Blooms Taxonomy as well as are rigorous and creative. Students are highly engaged. I often invite parents into our classroom when we are doing Agriculture in the Classroom lessons. They all learn and are enthralled while doing so." - A Colorado educator

"CFA is a wonderful organization that truly cares about the advocacy of agriculture. We are a group of passionate educators, producers, volunteers who want to help people see agriculture in a lens that relates to them and their lifestyles. We help promote education and programs for teachers, provide resources and education tools for classrooms and students, and provide hands on learning experiences for people to see the world of agriculture." - A current board of director member

Mission

Our vision is to advance agricultural literacy in the next generation of consumers, citizens, and professionals.

Our mission it connecting Colorado educators and students to their food, fiber, fuel, and natural resources.

Background Statement

Since 1991, the Colorado Foundation for Agriculture (CFA) and the Agriculture in the Classroom (AITC) program seek to advance agricultural literacy – an awareness, knowledge, and appreciation of our food, fiber, fuel, and natural resources – among preK-12 teachers and their students. AITC strives to improve student achievement by applying authentic, food, natural resources, and agricultural based content as the context to teach core curriculum concepts in science, social studies, nutrition, STEM, and language arts. CFA does this by:

1) Developing materials that are accurate, standards-based, and scientifically sound to enhance the educational experience of preK-12 students.

2) Providing programs, inspiration, and training opportunities for educators.

3) Partnering with like-minded organizations to create awareness about the significance of agriculture in our everyday lives.
