Rockin' for Wapiyapi

This summer I will be volunteering my time at Camp Wapiyapi, which is a week-long summer camp for children with cancer and their siblings. A cancer diagnosis in a child turns their whole family's world upside down, and often the siblings seem to be marginalized while their brothers or sisters are being treated and cared for. Camp Wapiyapi strives to create an environment where these children can feel normal; where they can do anything they want to and truly just enjoy being a kid. Known as the "best week of the year", Wapiyapi has been making a difference for 14 years.

One of the best parts of Wapiyapi is that kids don't have to pay to be there. Each child is matched with a "companion" for the week (an adult to have fun with them and keep them safe), and the camp covers the cost for all. It comes out to cost about $800 for each child, and $400 for each volunteer. I would like to send as many kids for free as possible!
