Testimonials

We can not thank Joseph's Journey enough for the wonderful hunt you put together for us. After all thee horrible treatments Josh went through it was good to see the smile back on his face. I just want you to see the other side of what you did for Josh and me ....you have no idea how much healing that was. It wasn't even that he got a bear it was getting to do something "normal". It was great bonding time for him and me and it was quite healing for mom to see him happy and smile again after being so sick. Cancer is a terrible, terrible thing and you guys are doing a wonderful, wonderful thing! Thank You!, Janice

Let me start off by saying you guys have what is quite possibly the best organization for young people like myself. It is amazing to me that people I have never met before would be willing to make a dream of mine come true. I look back at all of the bad days I had while I was going through treatment, and realize that great things can come from any situation. In a case like this, I feel like "Thank You" is just not enough. Sincerely, Josh F.

On behalf of my three grandchildren I want to thank everyone involved with Joseph's Journey especially the fishing derby and activities. We have been staying at the Ronald McDonald House. My three grandchildren will need heart transplants. The children had a wonderful time and all the volunteers were patient, friendly, and caring. Each child received special attention and were made to feel important. Special thanks to Tom-firefighter, Craig-realtor, Jim-construction, and the two men in Archery around 1:00 p.m. Sincerely, Ruth M.

Thank you for a wonderful experience - my 7 children and I had a wonderful time fishing. You spoiled us all. It was so good to share a fun experience all together...as a family. As you know when 1 person is very ill all of us share the illness. It was good to see the smiles and hear the laughter of my kids. Thank you for the invitation...the food, the class on casting, the exhibits from the wildlife, but most of all thank you for a couple of hours of "normal." Yolanda D.

The Joseph's Journey Fishing Derby is an amazing and fun experience! My brother and I have a great time at this annual event! My brother Michael especially loves coming here to fish! Thank you for hosting this wonderful event! Sincerely, Mitchell R.

I'm Chris, a 19 year old two time Hodgkin's Lymphoma survivor. In the middle of September 2012 I was given the chance of a lifetime. Joseph's Journey sent me on a trip to hunt the "Great American Buffalo." I was sent to the High Adventure Ranch in Missouri. The morning of the hunt I woke up to a fog overtaking the valley, settling itself over the tops of the trees. We sat and watched to pick out the one I wanted. I couldn't get a clear shot of the buffalo I wanted, so we headed across the valley to the other side of the trees. I was then given my chance. The buffalo I had in my sights all morning had finally moved itself to the back of the pack. As I stared him down in my cross hairs, I took a deep breath and squeezed the trigger. When the gun went off, I hoped for a good shot. The buffalo fell. It was a clean kill, and I had gotten my first big game kill. This was a trip of lifetime. Not many people can say they have gotten to hunt the "Great American Buffalo," enjoy the hospitality of a world class ranch, and at the same time enjoy the company of your family. I can't thank Joseph's Journey enough for this opportunity. Sincerely, Chris H

Mission

Joseph's Journey is dedicated to fulfilling the dreams of a wilderness experience for children with terminal or life-threatening illnesses.

Background Statement

When Joseph Steuart was 13, he was diagnosed with A.L.L. (Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia) with a rare Philadelphia Chromosome, which left no option other than a bone marrow transplant. Unfortunately, after many complications, he passed away in January 2000 at the age of 14. Following Joseph's death, his parents discovered a shoebox with $50.25 and a note saying "for Dad and I to go caribou hunting."

Because of Joseph's love of the outdoors and the family understanding what ill children endure, they started Joseph's Journey to provide opportunities for children with terminal or life-threatening illnesses to experience the beauty and wonder of outdoor adventures. The Steuart family founded Joseph's Journey in August 2000 as a 501 (c)(3) non-profit.
